Barbara Wilson, (nee Dunn), age 73 of Manahawkin NJ, stepped into the loving arms of her Savior on June 30, after a brief illness.
Barbara was born February 25, 1945 to Robert & Jean (McCracken) Dunn in Passaic NJ.
She graduated with a BA in Psychology and Biology from Lipscomb College in Nashville TN. Upon graduation, Barbara worked for NJ Blue Cross in Newark NJ where she met her Marine and husband Lt. Col. Bill E Wilson. They were married on May 15, 1971 at the Philadelphia Naval Station. Shortly afterward, Barb joined Bill while stationed in Bangkok, Thailand. Two years later they returned to Oceanside CA, where the adventure continued, traveling with Bill throughout the world.
While residing in Oceanside, Barbara was employed at the UC Medical Center in San Diego for 25 years, receiving a post graduate Certificate in Computer Systems for Business.
After her husband’s passing in 2000, Barbara returned to her native NJ where she resided in Manahawkin and attended Manahawkin Baptist Church. In 2008, she began her employment with Costco Wholesale and developed many close friendships. Barb also had many interests and hobbies. She was an avid reader, listened to Southern Gospel music, loved to travel and knit, and developed a keen interest in genealogy, taking trips to Scotland to do a more in depth research into her family’s roots. She also taught a class on the subject as a volunteer as well as serving as an instructor for Medicare administration.
Barbara Jean Wilson touched many lives with her love and generous spirit. She is survived by her brother, Robert and his wife, Doris of Perryville and her nephews, Brian Dunn, and his wife Vanessa of Colorado, David Dunn of Perryville, and Robert Dunn and his wife, Meredith of Mount Laurel. Additionally, she is survived by two great nephews as well as her beloved extended family and dear friends living throughout the United States and Canada.
Barbara’s Life Celebration includes a memorial gathering on Friday, July 13, 2018 from 1pm to 5pm with her memorial service beginning at 4pm at Maxwell-Tobie Funeral Home, 573 Mill Creek Road, Manahawkin, NJ 08050.
