Barry L. Burlew

Barry Lee Burlew, age 77, of Barnegat, NJ passed away on Sunday, January 12, 2025 with his loving family by his side.

Born February 26, 1947, in Morristown, NJ, Barry lived in Chatham, NJ prior to Barnegat where he resided for the last 30 years. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam war. Prior to his retirement, he worked for New Jersey Transit, Elizabeth, NJ as a Mechanic. He was a proud member of the American Legion, Post #232, Barnegat, NJ. He was an avid motorcycle enthusiast and rode with the American Legion, Post #232 Legion Riders. He also loved working with his hands, and very much enjoyed fishing and crabbing.

Barry is predeceased by his parents, Alvin and Dorothy (Metz) Burlew, his daughter, Melissa Eckardt, his son-in-law, Matthew Eckardt, his brother, William Burlew, and his sister, Betty Shepard.

He is survived by his loving wife, Linda (Grey) Burlew, his daughter, Michelle Sydlosky & her husband Dave, his two sons, John Burlew and Michael Burlew, his two step sons, Randy Rapp & his wife Shelly and Bruce Rapp & his wife Priscila, his sister, Nancy Okuniewicz & her husband Albie, his nine grandchildren; Ashley, Alyssa, DJ, Alex, Gage, Hope, Skye, Jacob, & Tyler, and his six great grandchildren; Jordyn, Logan, Noel, Bryan, Emma & Lenny. He is also survived by his many loving nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will take place on Saturday, January 18, 2025, from 1pm to 5pm with a service beginning 4:30pm at Maxwell-Tobie Funeral Home, 573 Mill Creek Road, Manahawkin, NJ 08050.
