Donald L. Dube, 89, of Manahawkin, NJ, loving husband and father passed away February 13, 2020.
Raised in Haverstraw, NY he graduated from Haverstraw High School and then from Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, NY, majoring in Structural Engineering. He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. He and his wife, Rita, raised their family in Congers, NY for 36 years before moving to Manahawkin. He was a licensed Professional Engineer, registered in several states, and was Chief Structural Engineer for Malcolm Pirnie, Inc., Environmental Engineers, in White Plains, NY until his retirement. He and his wife retired to Manahawkin, NJ where he formed his own Structural Engineering firm. He was a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, the American Concrete Institute, and other technical societies. He was past president of the Atlantic Hills Homeowners Association where he was active in community affairs. He loved sailing his sailboat the “Jo-Dee-Joy” and was a member of the Brant Beach Yacht Club.
Donald is predeceased by his parents, Leo and Theresa Dube, and his sister,Eunice O’Brien Yaffa.
He is survived by his loving wife (married 1954) of 65 years, Rita Schreiber Dube and his four children; a son Donald T. Dube of Avon-by-the-Sea, three daughters; Denise Marie Dube of Southampton, NY, Cheryl Thoma and her husband Richard of Whippany, and Joanne DelPizzo and her husband Paul Zimmerman of Stoughton, WI, his eight grand-children; Kristin Dube Baker, and Collin Dube, Nicole and Rachel DelPizzo,
Gabriela, Joseph and Nicholas Thoma and Gavin O’Hanlon, and his three great grand-children; Sirena Alyse Baker, Callista Rose Baker and Vaughn Pierce Baker.
Visiting hours will be Tuesday, February 18, 2020, from 5pm to 8pm and Wednesday, February 19, 9:30am to 10:30am at Maxwell-Tobie Funeral Home, 573 Mill Creek Road, Manahawkin. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 19, 11am at St. Francis of Assisi Church, Brant Beach, NJ. Interment will follow at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ.
