It is with great sadness that the family of Donald L. Miller of Manahawkin announces his passing after a brief illness, on Thursday October 11, 2018, at the age of 76. Don was surrounded by his loving family at the time of his passing. Donald will be greatly missed by his wife of 20 years, Debbie Scali-Miller, and his step-children, Heather Henry (Craig), Marisa Ross (Dom), Anthony Scali (Leah) and Matthew Scali (Nicole). Don, “Pop”, will be greatly missed by 7 grandchildren who he adored, Yater, Dominick, Grace, Jacob, Hayden, Lily, and Lucas. Also surviving is his sister Diane Mazurowski, several nieces and nephews, and many cousins and friends.
Don was predeceased by his parents Frederick and Vivian (Ward) Miller and his loving Aunt Geraldine Jenkins. Donald was born in Plainfield, NJ in 1941.
Donald served honorably in the United States Army. Donald was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers for over 50 years. Donald moved to the area while working on the jetty project in Barnegat Light in the late 1980s. He loved his job; he was a trained professional, as he so often told us.
Don was an avid golfer, and he loved baseball; he was a diehard Yankees fan. He loved tinkering in his garage, working in the yard, and feeding the birds.
Don attended Manahawkin United Methodist Church on a regular basis.
A memorial service will be held Saturday October 27, 2018, at the Manahawkin United Methodist Church 116 Stafford Ave. Manahawkin, NJ 08050. Visitation will be 10 am with the service starting at 11 am.
In lieu of flowers please make a donation in Don's name to the Manahawkin United Methodist Church, Wounded Warrior Project, or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
