Edwin Black, age 91, of Manahawkin and Cape Coral, FL, passed away on Monday, April 9, 2018. Born in Irvington, NJ he resided in Belleville, then Cape Coral, FL., prior to Manahawkin where he lived for the last 7 years. He worked as a truck driver for Wilson Freightways, Elizabeth, NJ prior to his retirement. During his driving career, he was proud of his CB radio handle “Boston Blackie” and his nickname “Fast Eddie”. He also served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He is predeceased by his wife, Diane Dinorcia Black in 2016 and his granddaughter Alexa.
Edwin is survived by his two sons; Donald Black and William Black, his three daughters; Nancy Centanni, Sally Maurillo and Diane Matthis, his 14 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, April 14, 2016 from 2pm to 6pm with a Time of Remembrance taking place at 5:45pm at Maxwell–Tobie Funeral Home, 573 Mill Creek Road Manahawkin, NJ 08050. Cremation will be held privately.
In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in his memory to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org
