Francis “Frank” Eugene Pompliano, Jr., age 87, of the Beach Haven West community in Manahawkin, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, January 20, 2024 with his family by his side.
Born and raised in Hoboken to Frank Pompliano Sr. and Anna (Feitner) Pompliano, Frank graduated from Demarest High School in 1954. He worked for several years at Western Electric in Kearny before launching a career in the commercial print industry in 1958, when he became an apprentice at Bruns Inc., working with his future father-in-law. He married the love of his life, Roseanne, in 1965 and moved with her to Sayreville, where they would raise their family. Less than a decade later, Frank leveraged his entrepreneurial expertise to start his own printing company, Star Brite Press, serving as its president for the next 30 years. He was also president of and volunteer for the local branch of the St. Vincent de Paul Society for several years.
But Frank didn’t slow down after retirement. He and Roseanne became snowbirds, splitting their time between Beach Haven West and Valiant House in Hollywood, Fla., where he served for several years as president of the HOA. Frank continued his decades-long tradition of hosting an annual pig roast, which friends and family looked forward to every summer. He kept busy with various hobbies, including surf fishing, boating, supporting his favorite professional sports teams (go Yankees, Giants, Knicks, and Rangers!), and playing bocce ball and card games. But his favorite pastime by far was spending time with his grandchildren and being their #1 fan at sports competitions. His smiling face was a familiar one in the area, especially at his favorite local businesses, including Big Apple Bakery, Anthony’s Pizza, and Manera’s Restaurant.
Frank was predeceased by his sister, Virginia. In addition to his loving wife, Roseanne, Frank is survived by three sons—Gregory and his wife, Andrea; Keith and his wife, Amy; and Gene and his wife, Stacey. He also leaves behind three beloved grandchildren—Jake, Allie, and Jack.
