Gary W. Gore, Sr., 79, of Manahawkin NJ, passed away on January 28, 2020.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, he lived in Beach Haven, NJ prior to Manahawkin where he resided for the last 11 years. Prior to his retirement, Gary was owner/operator of Gore Construction, Beach Haven as well as Gore’s Marina, Holgate. He also owned several restaurants on Long Beach Island. Gary was a Master Mason with the Sextant Lodge #286, Manahawkin, and an honorary member of the Beach Haven Fire Company. He was also a former scout master with Boy Scout Troop 32, Beach Haven, a coach with the Long Beach Island Little League and Southern Regional Pop Warner Football, and a member of the Atlantic City Boardwalk Barbershop Chorus. Gary loved to travel, was an avid poker player in Atlantic City, enjoyed all sports, and was a member of Kynett United Methodist Church, Beach Haven. Out of all his many activities, he would brave the hot sun and winter cold to watch his grandchildren compete in their sporting events. He will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
He is predeceased by his son, James Baumgardner, and his brother, Boyd Gore Jr.
Gary is survived by his wife, Dorothy E. Gore (nee Meyer), his son, Gary W. Gore Jr., and his wife Jennifer, his three daughters; Victoria Gore-Turner, Wendy Saunders & her husband Jamie, and Carol Van Hess & her husband John, his sister, Emily Richard, his five grandchildren; Cynthia, Kevin, Andrew, Luke, and Alanis, and his two great grandchildren; Macie and Otto, as well as many loving nieces a nephews.
A memorial gathering will be held Saturday, February 1, 2020, from 1pm until his service of remembrance at 4pm from Maxwell-Tobie Funeral Home, 573 Mill Creek Road, Manahawkin, NJ 08050.
