George J. Hutchinson

On Wednesday, July 24, 2024, George “Hutch” Hutchinson passed away peacefully after a long fight, in a manner much like he lived his life. He was 85 years old.

Hutch was born in Bridgeboro and grew up in Riverside, New Jersey, where he met his wife, Nancy (nee Clauss). He was an avid hunter, fisherman and baseball catcher. Hutch was a master carpenter, and through his trade made many friends throughout his life. Once he and Nancy began their family, they moved to Mt. Holly, then Delran, where they lived for 20 years. Their next stop was Fripp Island, South Carolina, where Hutch continued to build, make friends, and be the life of the party.

Family brought Hutch and Nancy back to Manahawkin, New Jersey, where he spent the rest of his days working by the shore, leaving his trademark laugh and silly antics on everyone’s mind, and making memories with Nancy. Hutch loved watching the Phillies at home or with his “family” at The Element, where both he and Nancy were treated with love and respect.

Hutch was a proud husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Nancy, his sons Todd (Amy) of Haddon Township, and Dean (Cara) of Moorestown, and his six grandchildren, Drew, Ava, Grace, James, Shelby, and Cali.

A mass will be held to celebrate George’s life on Tuesday, August 13, 2024 at 10:00am at St. Thomas of Villanova Catholic Church, Surf City, NJ.
