George E. Walsh, age 91, passed away on Monday, July 24, 2017 with his family by his side.
Born in Jersey City, NJ, he lived in Manahawkin prior to Barnegat where he resided for the last 15 years. Prior to his retirement, George was a Research Technician for Exxon, Linden, NJ. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Annunciation Council #3826, as well as the VFW, Post 10092, also in Barnegat. He proudly served his country during World War II as a member of the U.S. Merchant Marines.
He is predeceased by his daughters; Debbie Cross and Alice, and his grandson George “Gman”.
George is survived by his loving wife Maureen (nee McGovern), his sons; Joseph & George Walsh and Arthur Yunker, his daughters; Susan Fulivo, June Fagan and Maryellen Saparito, his 15 grandchildren; Doug, Joey, Jessica, Jackie, David, Donald, Alison, Melissa, Kelly, Maureen, Amanda, Ricky, Kayla, Ray and Christine, his 3 great grandchildren; D.J., Silas and Patrick, as well as his many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, July 28, 2017, 12pm at St. Mary’s Church, 747 W. Bay Avenue, Barnegat, NJ 08005. Inurnment of cremated remains will follow, 2:30pm at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown, NJ.
