Imelda A. Killeen (nee Lyden), 88, of Manahawkin, and proud owner of Killeen’s Irish Shop, passed away on January 6, 2016. Imelda and her late husband, Frank, moved from Wayne to Fawn Lakes, Manahawkin in 1982. Always wanting to start their own business, after Frank retired from the Port Authority, they started Killeen’s Irish Shop more than thirty years ago, and the store became a staple in the Manahawkin business community. Many people enjoyed going into the store just to enjoy the Irish music and pleasant conversation, and it was until only recently that Imelda could be seen getting out of her car every morning and opening up the shop.
Imelda is predeceased by her husband, Frank, and a son, Michael.
Imelda is survived by her sons Tom and his wife Katherine, Peter, and Francis as well as four grandchildren.
Visiting will be held at church on Saturday, January 9, from 10am to 11am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 11am at St. Francis of Assisi Church, Long Beach Blvd., Brant Beach. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Manahawkin.
