James Edward Puzio……Jimmy, 62, of Barnegat formerly of Clark and Manahawkin, NJ, passed away on Tuesday, July 4, 2017, after a courageous battle against cancer.

Jimmy graduated from Union County Vocational Technical School as a mechanic.  He was employed by Elizabethtown Gas, an NUI Corporation subsidiary, in the Green Lane Garage as a master mechanic.  While working in the garage, he attended evening classes at Rutgers University and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. After graduating, Jimmy was promoted and worked as a senior purchasing agent.  He was the first union employee to have ever been promoted to management in the history of the company.  After five years in purchasing, Jimmy transferred and began working as a manager for NUI’s gas supply acquisition department.  He had over 20 years of service with NUI Corporation before moving to Manahawkin to be closer to the ocean.  Jimmy was currently employed as a sales professional at Barlow Automotive in Manahawkin where he was a four year Mark of Excellence Certified Top Performer. Jimmy was an avid fisherman; he enjoyed golfing, and loved playing the guitar.  Most recently, he was teaching himself to play the mandolin and perfecting his culinary skills in the kitchen.

Jimmy was predeceased by his parents Cecelia and Edward Puzio, his sister, Beverly Hunt, and his father-in-law, John DeFabio. He is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years, Faith (DeFabio), his mother-in-law, Faith DeFabio, his sister-in-law, Hyacinthe Peithman and her husband, Keith, and nieces, Lindsey and Kelsey, nephews, John and Tory.  He is survived by his brother-in-law, Raymond Hunt, and nephews, Eric, Jason, and Joey.

A memorial gathering will be held at Saint Mary of the Pines Church, 100 Bishop Way, Manahawkin, NJ, on Monday, July 10, 2017, 11am until his memorial Mass of Christian Burial at 12:30pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made in Jimmy’s name to the American Cancer Society, Meridian at Home Hospice, and the Ocean County Animal Facility in Manahawkin.
