Jerrol D. Hillblom, age 83, of Manahawkin, NJ passed away on Monday, August 15, 2022.
Born on January 11, 1939, he was raised in Wasco, CA. He lived in Lakewood, NJ prior to Manahawkin, NJ where he resided since 2002.
After a brief period at community college, he enlisted in the US Army in 1958. He would spend the next 20 years in service retiring as a Master Sergeant, while stationed at Ft. Monmouth, NJ. His various assignments also included: Boston, MA, Texas; NY, GA, CA, Washington, DC, Germany, the Azores, and two tours of duty in Vietnam. Jerry then went onto work for Lockheed Electronics, where he met his wife Kathy. He then became a Logistics Management Specialist at Ft. Monmouth retiring in 1996. He enjoyed camping, photography & “tinkering”. He was a fan of the New York Giants and New Jersey Devils. While actively serving in Boy Scout Troop 23, Manahawkin for many years as Committee Chairman, he took care of a lot of the behind the scenes organizations that made all the troop trips possible. He also enjoyed watching many Southern Regional band concerts, competitions, and volleyball games throughout his kids' school years.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Kathleen Moser Hillblom of Manahawkin, NJ, his son, Matthew of Tuckerton, NJ, his daughter, Katie and her fiancé Steve Minutella of Waretown, NJ, his daughter, Sharon Richardson of North Augusta, SC, his son, Frank of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, his son, James of Jacksonville, FL and his grandchildren, Brett and his wife Lindsey Richardson of Martinez, GA, and Dawson Richardson of Evans, GA.
A memorial gathering will take place on Monday, August 22, 2022 from 4pm to 8pm at Maxwell-Tobie Funeral Home, 573 Mill Creek Road, Manahawkin, NJ, 08050. A funeral service will be held 11:30am on Tuesday, August 23 at the funeral home.
