Jesse “Dylan” Burgher died peacefully at Weill Cornell Medicine New York Presbyterian Hospital on December 10, 2021, in New York City, NY at the age of 33.
Dylan was born on September 5 in Bethesda, FL to Susan Casbar. A local of his beloved Ship Bottom, Long Beach Island, NJ, he was a major part of the social life and culture of the island. A member of the Boy Scouts, Intramural Basketball, Volleyball, Chess Club, he graduated from Southern Regional High School in 2006.
Dylan was highly adept at working on mechanical projects and often was tasked with assisting friends with repairs to their vehicles and odd jobs around their homes. He worked at almost every local business; Surf Unlimited, New Hong Kong, Beach Haven Auto, just to name a few. Beyond generous, he thrived on helping others, being fiercely loyal and accepting of everyone he knew.
Dylan was an avid traveler, going all over the continental United States and Puerto Rico. He would make friends easily everywhere he went, never a stranger in any locale. His quick wit and sense of humor brought levity to every social encounter. His heart and lust for life will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
If his mother could speak to him today, she would like him to know “You are my life, you’re my love, you’re my son.”
Dylan is survived by his mother Susan Casbar, of Long Beach Island, NJ; father Jesse D Burgher, stepmother Monica Burgher, half-sisters Sadie, Anjelica, and Anita of Montgomery, AL; aunt Stacy Sargent and her family of Weaverville, NC; aunt Suzi Payne and her family of Flower Mound, TX; uncle Mike Burgher and his family of Anchorage, AK; grandfather James Burgher of Auburn, KY. He is preceded in death by his grandfather Peter “Poppy” Casbar, who knowing all Dylan had gone through, is waiting to greet him with open arms.
Visiting hours will be Saturday, December 18, 2021, from 2pm to 6pm with a service at 5:30pm at Maxwell-Tobie Funeral Home, 573 Mill Creek Road, Manahawkin NJ 08087. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Dylan's life.
