John Cahill
John (Jack) Cahill Sr, age 88 of Manahawkin, passed away on December 20th, 2020 peacefully at home with his family by his side.
He was born to the late Helen and John Cahill in Philadelphia, PA, and lived in Westmont, NJ before moving to Manahawkin 33 years ago. He will always be remembered for being a wonderful father of nine as well as a great friend to all who knew him.
Jack was preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth Cahill, his oldest son John Cahill Jr and oldest daughter Elizabeth Headrick. He is survived by sons Thomas Cahill (Patricia), Joseph Cahill (Karen), Dennis Cahill (Renee), William Cahill and James Cahill (Cheryl), and daughters Patricia Kryston (Joseph) and Theresa Susterowitz (Steven). Jack also had ten grandchildren, two step granddaughters, two great-grandsons, one step great-grandson and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his brother Thomas Cahill and two sisters Joan Hackman and Catherine Ginchereau.
Jack was a Korean War Veteran of the US Army, and then worked in engineering as a draftsman and designer. He loved his family more than anything and worked hard to ensure they had what they needed. There wasn’t a project around the house that he would not tackle. During his retirement days, one of the things that kept Jack busy was wood carving.
