John Paul Hoffmann age 81, of Manahawkin, passed away with his beloved children by his side on Saturday, February 22, 2025.

Born in Manhattan on June 28, 1943 and raised in the Bronx, NY, John lived in Manahawkin for the last 31 years. A retired officer of the FDNY, John especially enjoyed vacationing in Maui, Hawaii, over many years. He was an avid New York Yankees, Giants, and Rangers fan and dog lover, especially Golden Retrievers and Pit Bulls. John enjoyed having breakfast with his fellow ROMEOs (Retired Old Men Eating Out) every Wednesday morning at Johnny’s Offshore Cafe. He also enjoyed spending Thursday mornings at Ken’s Kitchen at Saint Mary of the Pines where he would socialize with the other parishioners and volunteers.

John is predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Arlene Hoffmann, and his parents, John and Anna Hoffmann.

John is survived by his loving children; John A. Hoffmann and his wife, Melanie, his daughter Kathy Holm and her husband Doug, and his daughter Sally Hoffmann, along with his sister Ellen Figura, and his sisters-in-law Mary Lynn Forczek and her husband Ron, and Ellen Amodio and her husband Paul. John is also survived by 5 grandchildren, Kyle, Emma, Aidan, Matthew and Dylan, beloved canine companion Willow, and many cherished extended family members, nieces and nephews, and friends. 

A Memorial Service will be celebrated at 12:15pm on Saturday, March 8th at St. Mary of the Pines Church, Bishop Lane, Manahawkin, NJ. A repast celebrating John’s life will be shared following the service at Johnny’s Offshore Cafe located at 100 McKinley Ave Suite 13, Manahawkin, NJ, at 2 pm. 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation at www.t2t.org or Shriners’ Hospital For Children at www.shrinerschildrens.org
