Lorraine Eleanor Stack (nee Schlachta) passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on January 29, 2019.
In her 85th year, Lorraine lived a full life. Lovingly known as Cha-Cha to family in her later years, she was born and raised in Philadelphia. She loved to dance and taught dancing in her late teens. She met her husband, Bob, of 23 years when they both worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad. After marrying, they moved to New Jersey where they raised their three children. Lorraine loved the beach and shared that with family spending summers on Long Beach Island before moving there full-time in the late-70s. Lorraine and Bob were active in the Haven Beach Club Association. After Bob’s passing, she ventured to Ormond Beach, FL, then to Lansdale, PA before settling back near the beach and people she loved.
Lorraine endeavored to do more in her career over the years. She worked as the executive assistant to the Burlington County Bridge commissioner, was the owner of the Valhalla Gift Shop in Haven Beach for several years, both worked for and managed board of realtors in Daytona Beach, Fl, and Montgomery County, Pa. Her proudest career was her last as the Manager of the St. Francis Gift Shop for 15 years until she retired in 2012. Her love for LBI also included the love of faith and her church, and the many friends she made there over the years.
Lorraine was predeceased by her husband Robert T. Stack, her daughter Linda Bakshas and her parents John and Isabelle Schlachta. She is survived by her children, Robert Stack, Jr and his wife Susan, Theresa Regan and her husband Tom, beloved grandchildren Erin Regan and Wendy Bakshas, and her sisters Louise Felice and Betty McIlvaine, along with nieces and nephews.
