Marilynn Odonnell

It is with great sorrow that the family of Marilynn O’Donnell, 52, announces her passing on January 4, 2023 at Virtua Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in New Jersey.

Born on June 18, 1970 in Brooklyn, and raised on Staten Island, she was the daughter of Jimmy Vargas and Gladys Burgos. Marilynn was the beloved wife of Matt O’Donnell. They were married on March 24, 2001 and have three children and one grandchild.

Along with her loving husband, she is survived by her loving children Joseph, Brooke and Jamie; her dear siblings Jeanette Casulli and Noel Vargas; and her adoring grandson Christopher Joseph Lentini. She was predeceased by her brother Jimmy Vargas.

Marilynn graduated from Tottenville High School in 1988. She worked as a dental assistant and pivoted to a full-time mom to raise her twin daughters in 2006.  She loved spending time with her family and planning large gatherings to celebrate holidays. As her friends and family can attest, Marilynn created the most memorable, entertaining and scary Halloween parties on the planet.

Marilynn greatly cherished spending time with her loving nieces and nephews, who were a big part of her life. She also enjoyed spending time on LBI with her family, and adored their two dogs Cooper and Chloe. Marilynn was known among family and friends for her selflessness, empathy and prioritizing everyone’s needs before herself. She loved the home she created with Matt and her children in Cedar Run, NJ. Marilynn lit up every room with her loving and joyful presence.

Family and friends are invited to pay their final respects to Marilynn on Sunday, January 8, from 2-5 p.m. at Maxwell Tobie Funeral Home.
