Marne Shay

Margaret Ann “Marne” McElligott Shay, 78, of Loveladies, LBI, NJ, passed away peacefully on early Saturday, June 18, 2016. Marne was born on March 27, 1938  in Whitefish Bay WI, graduated from Marquette University, and married Robert L. Shay, Jr on September 5, 1964.  They had lived in Mechanicsburg, Paoli, and Malvern, PA as well as Silver Spring, MD.

Marne joins her husband who passed away on August 8, 2014, and is survived by her sons, Chris, Mike, and Rob, their wives (Amy, Laura, Donna), eight grandchildren (Ally, Mimi, Michael, Daniel, Billy, Nick, Noelle, Nina) and two great grandchildren (Mia, George). Marne lived for her boys.  She was often found on the sidelines or active at their schools. She volunteered at her church, at Meals on Wheels, and at The White House when they lived in Maryland. When she and Bob retired to the shore house, they volunteered every year for the LBI 18 Mile Run and at St. Claire's as a lector and Eucharistic Minister. LBI was her home for over 50 years.

Visiting hours will be held June 25, 2016 from 8:30-10:30am at Maxwell -Tobie Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 573 Mill Creek Road, Manahawkin, NJ 08050. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow, 11am at St Mary's of the Pines, 100 Bishop Ave., Manahawkin.  Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Manahawkin.
