Maryann Cilmi (nee Riscica)

Age 76, of Marlboro, NJ, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, March 6, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Maryann was born on September 28, 1948, in Brooklyn, NY, and resided there until she moved with her husband Tom and their children to Marlboro, NJ in 1980. Maryann was an active parishioner and volunteer at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church in Marlboro, NJ. She loved dancing in the kitchen to all types of music, especially Elvis. She was an avid reader who also enjoyed crocheting. She crocheted beautiful dresses for her daughter, as well as blankets and scarves for all the grandchildren, which they still cherish today. Most of all, Maryann loved spending time with her family, always happy to support and cheer on her children and grandchildren in their various activities. Maryann found happiness through cooking for her loved ones. Nana’s most cherished recipes by the grandchildren are BROWNIES, pasta, salad, macaroni & tuna, and balsamic green beans. Maryann greatly valued her friendships, particularly her lifelong friends Anna, Phyllis, Marie and Rene. Prior to her retirement, Maryann worked as a Medical Billing Specialist for 25 years at Hackensack Meridian in Neptune, NJ. Maryann's warm and loving nature touched the lives of all who knew her, and she will be deeply missed.

Maryann is predeceased by her father, Vincent Riscica; her mother, Nivia Cotugno; and her stepfather, Sebastiano LoPizzo.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Thomas Cilmi of 54 years; her daughter, Christina Soubasis, and her husband James; her two sons, Michael Cilmi and his wife Michelle, and Vincent Cilmi and his fiancée Angel; her brother, Joseph Riscica, and his wife Clare; and her six beloved grandchildren, Gabriella, Nikko, Gracie-Marie, Danica, Giulia, and Dimitri. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

Visitation will be held on Monday, March 10, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Maxwell-Tobie Funeral Home, 573 Mill Creek Road, Manahawkin, NJ 08050. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at 11:00 AM at St. Mary of the Pines Church, 100 Bishop Lane, Manahawkin, NJ 08050. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Toms River, NJ.
