Peter Charles Calcutta

Peter Charles Calcutta, 83 years old, a longtime resident of Monmouth and Ocean Counties, NJ and Cape Coral, FL, passed away in his home, surrounded by family after a battle with cancer on February 10, 2024. Peter was born on December 13, 1940, in Staten Island, NY to the late Dominic and Ruth Ilchert Calcutta.

After graduating from Curtis High School in Staten Island, NY, Peter went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Navy serving on the Destroyer USS Richard E. Kraus, until his honorable discharge.

After serving, Peter started his career working on Wall Street for various companies until he eventually was able to become a partner in his own brokerage firm in New Jersey until he retired from the business.

To keep himself busy after retirement, Peter worked various part time jobs. For a short period of time he worked in the funeral industry with his son, as a funeral attendant and driver, he loved to a day trade and watch his stocks, and for 11 years he and his beloved wife were in the vacation rental business from 2009-2020, until he finally retired for good in 2020, but still watched the market daily.

In his earlier years, Peter was an avid bowler, and Harness Racing fan and horse owner, going to Atlantic City for his wins and losses, fireworks on the 4^th of July, which he ordered by the truckload, literally! He loved to watch golf and football, but his true love was fishing! If it swam, Peter fought to catch it in both salt and fresh water.

Peter was predeceased by his parents, Dominic and Ruth Calcutta.  Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 22 years, Joyce Ellen (Maley) Calcutta, his children, Denise Stancati and her husband John, and their children John Peter Stancati and his wife Marie, Jaclyn Teixeira and her husband Cassio, Dawn Eckel and her children Carli Eckel and Colin Eckel, Peter M. Calcutta and his wife Gretchen and their children, Peter, Jr., Victoria and Samantha Calcutta, Randy Trembley and his wife Stacy and their children, Kayla and Logan, and Kim Trembley; and his two great grandchildren, Giovanni and Bella Stancati.

Visitation hours will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 14, from 3 to 6pm at Maxwell-Tobie Funeral Home, Manahawkin, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, Feb. 15, 11am at St. Mary’s Church, Manahawkin, NJ.  Interment will follow with military honors in Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery.
