Peter Rambo MacAvoy Sr., 78, passed away on Wednesday, February 19, 2020.
Born in Philadelphia, PA., he recently resided in Barnegat, NJ. Prior to his retirement, Pete worked as a Union Roofer for Union Local #30, Philadelphia. He was best known for being an avid Baymen. He was also a United States Coast Guard certified Captain. "Captain Pete" will be remembered for his timeless wit, charismatic ways and larger than life personality that bestowed him his nickname "BIG".....forever in our hearts.
Pete is predeceased by his daughter, Lisa MacAvoy Bentley.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Judith S. MacAvoy (nee Prince), his five sons; Peter R. MacAvoy Jr., Matthew R. MacAvoy and his wife Susie, Joshua R. MacAvoy and his wife Andrea, Kris MacAvoy and his wife Gina, and Shane MacAvoy and his wife Catherine, his beloved sister, Trisha Daley Karlson, and his eleven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
At the convenience of the family, all services are private. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in Pete's memory to Friends of Southern Ocean County Animal Shelter, 360 Haywood Road, Manahawkin, NJ 08050.
