Richard Lenihan

Richard J. Lenihan, age 83, of Manahawkin, passed away with his family by his side on Tuesday, November 28, 2017.

Born and raised in the Bronx, NY, he lived in Sloatsburg, NY prior to Manahawkin where he resided since 1997. Prior to his retirement, Richard was a Detective Sergeant with the New York City Police Department. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army.

He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Johanna (nee Donnellan), his three sons & daughters-in-law; Richard & Patricia Lenihan , Michael & Elyse Lenihan, and Sean & Dawn Lenihan, his daughter & son-in-law Eileen & Charles Kehrli, his nine grandchildren; Michael, Caitlin, Christine, Caroline, Patrick, Aidan, Declan, Jack & Violet. He is also survived by many additional loving family and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, December 2, 2017, 12:30pm at St. Mary of the Pines Church, Bishop Way, Manahawkin. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Beachview Ave., Manahawkin.

In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in his memory to the SBA Widows and Children’s Fund, Sergeant’s Benevolent Association, 35 Worth Street, New York, NY 10013.
