Richard Pumphrey

Richard L. Pumphrey, age 73, of Manahawkin, NJ passed away on Thursday, July 7, 2022 at home with his family by his side.

Born May 17, 1949 in Hackensack, NJ, he lived in Frankford, NJ prior to Manahawkin where he resided full-time since 2016. He was employed by Frankford Township, NJ as a Road Supervisor until his retirement in 2011. In retirement he worked part-time for Crest Construction, Barnegat, NJ. Richard proudly served his country during the Vietnam War in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Ridgefield Park Volunteer Fire Department, Ridgefield Park, NJ, the Bogota Rescue Squad and Bogota Fire Department, Bogota, NJ, he was an EMT serving the Blue Ridge Rescue Squad, Branchville, NJ, and a member of the Frankford Township Fire Department, Frankford, NJ. In his spare time, he enjoyed coaching in the Bogota Little League, was a Boy Scout Leader, enjoyed fishing and playing the slots in Atlantic City.

Richard is survived by his wife, Linda (Stewart) Pumphrey, his daughter, Alison Paling and her husband Todd, his two sons, Richard L. Pumphrey Jr. and his wife Erin, and Kevin Pumphrey and his wife Betty, his brother, Eugene Pumphrey and his wife Karen, his two grandchildren, Nolan & Taylor, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be Tuesday, July 12, 2022 from 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm at Maxwell-Tobie Funeral Home, 573 Mill Creek Road, Manahawkin, NJ 08050. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00am on Wednesday, July 13 at St. Francis Of Assisi Church, 4700 Long Beach Blvd., Brant Beach, NJ 08008. Cremation will be private.
