We lost Robert Thomas Augustine suddenly on Friday afternoon, September 9, 2016 in Millstone, NJ. We thank you for taking the time to reach out over these past days as we continue to struggle with this loss.
A 17 year resident of Manahawkin, NJ, Robert was born on February 10, 1950 in Passaic, NJ. He grew up a passionate and proud Italian in the loving care of his mother Frances Virgilio Augustine. Bob, or Bobby, loved and adored his wife, Barbara, and his son, Jason, so very much. He also intensely missed his mother Frances since losing her in March 2013. Robert also loved his extended family and wide and diverse network of friends.
Aside from being with family and friends, the things that made Bob smile included the following: his mother’s cooking; his trips to Cancun with Barb and family and friends; relaxing with Jason; the NY Giants and NY Yankees; watching the Giants beat the Eagles; his beloved golf game; snapping pics of his loved ones with his latest phone; all his kitty cats; riding his giant lawn mower at work with headphones blasting music in his ears (think Motown, Marvin Gaye, etc.); and watching anything from cooking shows to CSPAN to ESPN. Another favorite pastime of Bob’s was talking loudly to the television at night!
He is preceded in death by his parents, Frances Virgilio Augustine and Thomas Robert Augustine.
Robert is survived by his wife Barbara Ellen Augustine; his son, Jason Robert Augustine; his brother Thomas Augustine; his Godmother, Aunt Dolores LaGala; brother and sister- in-law, Peter and Janet Eagan Kochel; brother and sister- in-law, Dr. James and Maria Ricciuti Eagan; and brother-in-law, Thomas Eagan. Bob was very close to his cousin Linda Costanzo Marshall and her husband, Joe Marshall, as well as all his extended family in North Jersey. Uncle Bob also loved spending time with his Aunt Kay Veitch and his nieces and nephews including Kelly Kochel Yaris, Kathryn Kochel Shields, William Veitch, James Eagan, Amy Kochel, Colin Eagan, Alexandra Eagan, Chelsea Eagan, and Patrick Eagan.
A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, September 24, 2016, from 3pm to 5pm at Maxwell-Tobie Funeral Home, 573 Mill Creek Road, Manahawkin, NJ 08050.
In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in his memory to the Popcorn Park Zoo, 1 Humane Way. Forked River, NJ 08731, or at www.ahscares.org
