Bohs, Gerald M. (Jerry)
Gerald M. (Jerry) Bohs of Manahawkin, formerly of Medford Lakes, NJ, passed away at home surrounded by his daughters on November 7, 2024. He was 93 years old.
Jerry is survived by his daughters, Nancy, Susan, and Judith; his son-in-law Roger N. Smith; and many nieces and nephews on his wife’s side. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pearl (Polly) Murray Bohs, and his brother, Dean Bohs.
Jerry was born on June 3, 1939, in Riverton, NJ. He attended Cinnaminson public schools and graduated from Palmyra High School in 1949. While in high school, he played varsity football and baseball. Most importantly, Jerry met Polly Murray at Palmyra High and they married shortly after graduating. They remained married for for 67 years, until Polly’s passing in 2017.
Jerry served in the US Air Force from 1952 to 1956. He was stationed in Charleston, S.C. and spent one year stationed at Thule AFB in Greenland. After his honorable discharge from the USAF, Jerry and Polly lived in Cinnaminson and Palmyra before moving to Medford Lakes in 1965. The couple raised their daughters there and resided there for 35 years before moving to a bungalow on the water at the Jersey shore.
Jerry retired from Public Service Electric & Gas after 30 years of service. He became an avid golfer and was a member of the Medford Lakes Country Club before moving to the shore. Jerry was a Mason, (Covenant Lodge #161, F. A.& M.). He was a lifelong classical music aficionado, and he was listening to Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis when he passed.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Jerry’s name to the donor’s favorite animal rescue organizationor local animal shelter.
