Robert Mikulak, Bob, and Pop Pop
October 4, 1939 – December 3, 2019
On December 3 2019, surrounded by his loving family, Robert Mikulak passed away peacefully. Born in Carbondale, PA to Stephen and Rita Mikulak, the family moved to Irvington, NJ in 1954. Bob was known to be a hard working family man. He began working at Shop Rite Kearny in 1956 where he met his loving wife, Helen, of fifty-four years. Bob and Helen were married August 7, 1965 and had three children, Stephen, Carol Ann, and Bob. They resided in Edison for twenty-two years where they raised their family.
Bob was employed as a Forklift Operator at Twin County Grocers for twenty-six years before retiring in 1998. He was a dedicated Father and always supported his children. He was never missed at an Edison Jets or Edison Angels game. Bob also was an active member of the Edison High School Booster Club. Bob found the most joy in being “Pop Pop” to his eight grandchildren. He was an amazing Grandparent, attending as many of their extra-curricular activities as he could. He loved to travel with family and friends to Atlantic City, Disney, Las Vegas, and on various cruises. If Bob and Helen weren’t off traveling he would be found fishing, watching Westerns, war movies and his all-time favorite film, “It’s a Wonderful Life.”
Bob is survived by his wife Helen of Barnegat, his son Stephen Mikulak and wife Lisa of Medford, daughter Carol Ann Santiago and her husband Jaime of Jamesburg, and son Bob Mikulak and wife Amy of East Brunswick. He is also survived by his eight grandchildren, Carlie, Brittany, Melanie, Haylie, Stephen, Shelby, Bethany, and Jaime. Bob will also be missed by his extended family and many cherished friends.
A memorial service will be held on December 21, 2019, 10:00AM at Immaculate Conception Church, 23 Manalapan Rd, Spotswood NJ 08884. A Repast gathering will follow at Friendly Sons - The Shillelagh, 15 Oak St, Old Bridge NJ 08857, starting at 12:00pm.
