Ruth Decker

Ruth Marie Decker, age 93, died on July 28, 2021. She was born and raised in Dettingen, Germany.  She worked at an American army base where she met her husband, Loren “Bud” Decker.  She married and moved to the United States, first settling in Pennsylvania and then moving to Trenton, NJ where she worked for over 50 years as a veterinary assistant at the Trenton Veterinary Hospital.  She retired and moved full time into her home in Pebble Beach, Barnegat.

Mrs. Decker was devoted to her family in New Jersey, and she kept in close contact with her siblings in Germany and looked forward to annual visits until she couldn’t travel anymore. She was fond of animals and especially loved dogs.  She is survived by her daughters, Karen Smith of Barnegat, and Nancy Wood of Columbus and three grandchildren. She is also survived by several siblings (Lore Grotta, Sieglinde Bauer, Dieter Schramm and Elke Schmid), nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents (Immanuel and Marie Schramm) and two of her sisters (Lotte Brommer, Ursula Waimer).

Visiting will take place on Monday, August 2, 2021 from 3pm until her funeral service, 4pm at Maxwell-Tobie Funeral Home, 573 Mill Creek Road, Manahawkin, NJ 08050.
